Sounding Like a Broken Record

I used this line the other day when talking with a young friend. And then I realized, she had no idea what I was talking about!

On one hand, I find it exciting that so many things in a lifetime change so much. On the other hand, it’s sometimes hard to give up the “favorites” that we grew up with.

I tell my grandchildren that they can call me anything, as long as they don’t call me late for supper. Ha! Remember that one? That is another line that this next generation will not understand. Mothers no longer shout out in the neighborhood for kids to come home for supper like in the “old days”. Kids today are watched, assigned play dates and kept busy in athletic activities. They are not “out and about” on their own in the neighborhood. When I grew up, we would be out until someone called us in for supper.

When I pick products for our catalogs and web sites, I am amazed at how many products have been around longer than, well…longer than even me.

Take Fuller Brush for instance. No one under 35 knows what that quality product stood for. And yet, we are lucky enough to still carry their wet mops, moth / deodorant block, bath brush, and a host of other products that have been around since 1906! Just the thought of it makes me feel young. :)

And no comments from you whipper snappers (look it up in Urban Dictionary on Google)!

About QCIDirect

QCI Direct is a multi-title catalog company that has exploded in growth. The business began in 1983 as a small, woman-owned microwave accessory catalog. This division then evolved into our flagship catalog "Home Trends," a catalog that carries cleaning and organizational items for inside the home. Picket Fence, the outdoor book, soon followed.
